Where does this road take you to?

I hope you enjoy the song as you read and that these rhythmic tones will take you to a dreamland.

The thing I love most about children, it’s their ability to imagine. Having worked with children of different ages at different stages, I have noticed how that ability diminishes as the child gets older. While toddlers live and breathe for and from imagination, hanging around and chatting takes over eventually the older they get. I am, of course, exaggerating a bit. Those in the intermediate stage still play but not in the same imaginative role play as before.

Anyway, I want to invite the imaginative childlike side of you in. The adult side of you that still envisions or even has an undefined longing for something out of reach.

Look at the picture above. The road in the image will direct you to your dream destination.

What do you have to let go of to get to this road? When we choose something we have to let go of something else. It is called the power of choice. Simply explained, all our choices have an opportunity cost.

  • Where does this road take you to?
  • Is it a place?
  • Is it a feeling or feelings you want to achieve?
  • Is it a goal you have been working towards?
  • Is it something else?

When you arrive there, what emotions will be dancing within you, and how will you feel now that you have arrived at your long-awaited dream destination? Which part of your body is energised?

  • What is the next step?
  • Do you think you want to stay here for a long time and will stay satisfied forever?

If not, then what?

As they put it so nicely in Buddhism tradition; yes and then what?!

I am looking forward to hearing about your dreams.

  1. The trouble with roads I’m traveling on is that they keep forking! 😀

Should I go left? Should I go right? Should I turn around and go back to bed? 🤪

But I love the connection to Buddhism. As a spiritual person, I use the images and themes of roads all the time when I think about our life journey. My tarot cards also use roads often. And, with my kids old enough to pick and choose their own paths, the road theme is a part of our presence here.

    • Hi there. 😅sounds like life itself and all the fairy roads we meet. forking, winding, windy, straight- boring -forward, just to name a few.
Yes, being alive and in this life means being on the road, no? Life is a one BIG road from A to Z and along the way, there are so many small roads ( or sometimes distractions)to take off and explore. So I totally get what you mean. And the more ripe life makes me, the more I realise; there’s no right or wrong, only consequences of my decisions and the roads I take.
It is a kind of paradox, no, there’s nothing wrong or right but all our actions creates a reaction.
The physical law of life on earth. Thanks by the way for sharing where you are now on your ROAD and for commenting.
